So giving her a Samba, a party dance, didnt do it for me on an emotional level.
The All-New format of SYTYCD Season 9 made it’s debut last night.
I was not a huge fan of the song, or the choreography… It was a beautiful piece, one of the best I’ve seen particularly from Tyce. Dont get me wrong, there have been a few Pasos that have given me chills. Marko is a great dancer, probably still my favourite guy… Melanie was flawless and totally embraced the character she was given.
These are two power-house dancers, and the piece was elevated because of their strength and emotional rawness. I never wouldve expected form her audition, for her to be such a contender til the end. but this was slow and lacked the density and intensity to make me pick up the phone. This was more of a Cirque du Soleil performance than a “dance”, at least for this stage of the game. Tadd was brilliant also, you would never suspect he was a ‘untrained’ B-Boy. A great lyrical piece about a woman trying desperately to leave a controlling man.
And, am I crazy or was that Ashley Galvan in the line of dancers? Jordan’s solo was her best, I think, but the leg extensions were still prominent, of course.
Jess’s solo was full of character and entertaining.
DWTS has this inane format down to a Japanese war torturous tee.
Results shows are useless – and SYTYCD has just proven, that the performances and the results (plus a few shameless plugs for SYTYCD: The Movie…
Marko Germar is a finalist on the eighth season of So You Think You Can Dance. We really are like best friends, and that’s kind of what we need more than anything—that comfort of knowing that someone you love so much is there with you. Excited to see what All-Stars we’ll have next week. It’s cruel that they went to break without saying which of the four girls is in the bottom! Melanie and Sasha are safe and Caitlynn and Jordan are in the Bottom Four.🙂 I *am* surprised that Rickey is safe and Tadd is in the Bottom 4, but maybe I shouldn’t be after some of your comments lately that he seems arrogant.I don’t see it myself, but apparently enough people do to put him in danger. It was nice to see Christopher Scott dancing on the SYTYCD stage, too.
